Emerald Beach House - FAQ

Are there direct flights from the US?
Roatan is easily accessible from the US with direct flights from Miami (Sundays) and Houston (Saturdays and Sundays) on Taca Airlines. Continental Airlines operates 2 direct flights from Houston on Saturday. Delta also offers direct flights from Atlanta on Saturday. Daily flights on Continental and American are available to San Pedro Sula on the mainland, with a short connecting flight to the island.

What should I pack?
Roatan is very informal. Bring your snorkel gear and swimsuit. Don't forget a supply of insect repellent and suntan lotion!

Are supermarkets in the area? There are two well-stocked supermarkets on the island that carry a fair range of American goods, but are obviously more expensive than in the US. Chicken, seafood of all types, fruit and vegetables are in abundance. Liquor and beer is significantly cheaper than back home.

What activities should I plan?
• Visit the quaint village of Oakridge, just a few minutes drive away.
• Take a water taxi through the mangrove canals and see the houses built on stilts over the water.
• Have lunch in one of the great little restaurants right on the water.
• Take the car to colorful West End with its bars, restaurants, dive shops and souvenir stores.
• Swing through the treetops on either of Roatan's great Canopy Tours. One is located on the road to West Bay, and the second is located on the road to Palmetto Bay near French Harbour.
• Go diving on the incredible coral reef that surrounds the island. Not a diver? No problem! Take a course while you're here with one of the many professional dive shops.
• Relax on the beautiful sandy beach at West Bay.

Emerald Beach House - Roatan Information

Roatan is the largest, most developed and most frequented of the Bay Islands. Essentially a long, forested ridge rising from the Caribbean, it retains much of the original landscape that the Buccaneers knew in the 17th and 18th Century. There are several towns around the island, each offering their own unique character to Roatan visitors.
